What & Why
Artificial Intelligence and Artificial Life both study complex systems, but they approach the problem from opposite directions. AI asks: "How do we build a system that achieves a specific goal?" ALife asks: "How do simple rules give rise to complex, life-like behavior?"

Embodiment: Biological intelligence is inseparable from having a body.
